Conservation Work in Reach

Here are a couple of dates for conservation work in the village:

Saturday 17th October 2026 - 12:00 to 17:00

Gathering of cut material and creation of litter piles in the narrow field to the north east of the Devil's Dyke. This builds on the scrub clearance work undertaken last October and we will be moving material cut earlier in the day by Andrew Trump's tractor flail.

Please wear stout boots and come equipped with gauntlets, rakes and loppers.

Sunday 7th February 2027 - late morning to 16:00

Hedge laying at the 24Acres. This date is provisional and will be confirmed later in the year. Work to be led by Cambridge Conservation Volunteers. This will be the third hedge laying day at the site and our aim will be to complete laying the hedge that borders the southern edge of the cricket pitch. There will be an opportunity to learn and develop hedge laying skills.

Please wear stout boots and come equipped with gauntlets, rakes, bow saws and loppers.

Nick Aklam would be grateful if you could let him know if you are able to attend the October event, n.acklam@reachparish.gov.uk. He will ask about availability for hedge laying nearer the time, once the date is confirmed.
